Well, another week of football and another year of injuries for my Cowboys. Dez last week, Tony this week. It’s a sad day for Cowboys nation. 8 weeks is the estimate for Tony. Dez went from 4-6 to 10-12 with conflicting reports. It’s going to be a long season.
It was a tough game all around to watch. Ugly, sloppy, messy play from both teams. I’m not even going to credit Philly’s defense. The Cowboys drove and then stalled way too many times all on mental errors. So many stupid penalties; on both sides of the ball, really. I don’t even know. All I know is I don’t expect Brandon Weeden to win any games for us but he needs to not lose any for us. If we can go .500 while Tony and Dez are out, we’ll still have a chance to salvage the season, I think.
I saw Jason Witten hobble for a minute but stay in the game. Hopefully he’s not toughing out anything too bad right now. We can hang in there, but that might be a death blow if we lose him, too. It’s nice seeing Sean Lee back on the field, everywhere! Dude’s a beast and I love it! I’m definitely impressed with how hard the defense is working so far. I don’t know what kinds of teams the Giants or Eagles are yet, but they did their jobs against both. If they can continue to step up and we can get Randle going a little more and TWill can realize he’s the number one while Dez is out, it could be ok.
Other than that, Denver came back to beat KC at the end in a crazy game that ended with a Jamaal Charles fumble returned for a touchdown.
New England made easy work of Buffalo, with a late comeback attempt from the Bills to no avail.
The Panthers took out the Texans.
The Cardinals HANDLES the Bears. Jay Cutler supposedly has a hamstring injury which I think was just another excuse to pull him. Unfortunate, too. He was 8/8 until he threw that pick that he tried to make a tackle on. But, I think Arizona is for real still, especially if Carson Palmer stays healthy.
Cincinnati took out San Diego.
Cleveland. Cleveland Browns made easy work of Tennessee and Marcus Mariota. Easy work. I was in total shock by that one. I thought Tennessee might have a team after last week and I thought the Browns were still the Browns after last week. I don’t know what to think of either team now. Craziness.
And Minnesota over the Lions. I mean, yeah, the Lions gave up a big lead against San Diego somehow last week but I thought that was just one of those things. I thought the Lions still were a half way decent team at least. I mean they still have Stafford who does pretty well for himself. Calvin Johnson is a beast. And their rookie running back showed some flashes of brilliance last week. This week, not so much. And Minnesota looked sorry against San Francisco. But AP is getting back to form. Minnesota might come out of nowhere.
And Tampa over New Orleans!!! WHAT?!?!?! The Saints lost to the Cardinals last week but I think the Cardinals might be a great team, for real. I really thought they’d handle their business at home against Tampa. Tampa looked sorry last week. But, alas, New Orleans may not be a good team at all anymore!
I love how Atlanta came back to beat the Giants. It’s funny because they almost let Philly come back last week to beat them and then they come back to beat the Giants and next week they play the Cowboys. Three NFC East games in a row. They’re not going 3-0 against the East to start the season!
And I thought San Francisco looked sorry last week in their win over Minnesota but coming into Pittsburgh, WOW! Pittsburgh has the worst kicker in the league and still won by 25 points! And it was never even that close!
St. Louis. Seriously. St. Louis. They hang with the Seahawks to take an OT win and then LOSE TO THE REDSKINS!! The REDSKINS! Just so uncool. So, so uncool.
Jacksonville over Miami. I don’t know.
Cowboys over Philly. As I mentioned in an ugly game. And, though there was a lot of losing in a win, DeMarco Murray did rush 13 times for 2 yards. To go with his 9 yards last week. 11 yards in two games. I don’t think he had that little of yards in single quarter last season, more or less two full gams. I’m just saying.
Ok, alright, and the surprise (as if there weren’t enough already) of the week – Raiders over Baltimore. How does that even happen??? I know Jack Del Rio wants to change the culture there – maybe give him enough time and he will.
Seattle – Green Bay was looking like a good game last night and then the Packers took over. I know the Packers are a god team. I’m wondering who Seattle is this year now, though. Only time can tell.
Jets – Colts tonight. My money is, of course, on the Colts but they had a pretty bad week last week and the Jets made the Browns look like the Browns last week while Tenneessee made them look like the Packers this week. So I don’t know who any of these teams are this year. And based on the pools I’m in, neither does anyone else!
Only time can tell. And time will heal. Get well Tony and Dez – hopefully everyone else can hold down the fort until you get back!
