I am going to make it up to the mountains this year for ski season. This will be my 10th winter in Colorado. 10 skiless winters, 10 winters wasting the great Rocky Mountains, 10 winters not doing what Coloradans are known for. I’m ashamed. I admit it!
When we moved here, we had a one year old and a three year old and not much else. That covered the first three years that we just wouldn’t have been able to swing it. The last 3 years, we’ve been busy with all the kids’ events. The very few weekends we had free, we chose to spend relaxing. The four years in between, well, we were good at making excuses.
And I’ll give you one. I don’t like the cold. I HATE cold. I deal with it because, well, because I thought Colorado would be good for us and it’s better than the Midwest as far as weather goes!
But, the past couple years, we’ve sworn we would finally get up there. And it hasn’t happened. So, now that ski season is starting again, I SWEAR I am going skiing this year. I’m going to find time and make time and I’m going to get up there and do it! I’m going to come back with probably 82 broken bones, countless bruises and a need to do it again until I can come back unbroken (I sprained my ankle just by standing on a skateboard!).
But I think it’s time. 10 years in Colorado is way too long to have never been skiing. I don’t like telling people that I’ve never been when they ask and I don’t like having to explain myself for it (even though I just did!).
