Let’s see – I don’t even remember now. Oh yes, all the way back to Friday. Friday was volleyball practice. Another small practice but I’m hoping this week for everyone and it was still a good practice. When I was watching my older daughter practice, I actually took time to sit down and talk to other parents. WHAT?!?!?! It’s been SOOOOO long since I’ve done that. It was so weird for me but it was nice at the same time.
Saturday, my youngest had another doubles tournament. It was interesting because she was playing with someone she had never met before. Her partner from last time was unavailable to play so the director of the league she plays for asked her to play with someone he knew. Quite the compliment, really. And, they played surprisingly well for knowing nothing about how the other plays. I was impresses, overall. The got beat pretty bad in the semi-finals, but they still liked each other instead of ever blaming each other for mistakes. I found that very impressive from both girls. It was a good experience.
Work has been interesting this week. Someone quit, someone who was an integral part of this division, and they hired someone new. The owner, who does not usually work out of this office, which also does things differently than any other office, had him in the conference room all last week talking to him about how things are done and what he expects and blah blah blah. This week, another division manager flew in who, again, doesn’t do the things we do here. The ex-employee now works for another company in the same basic field and someone our company uses as a sub-contractor on a regular basis. We are not to use them anymore. There was a good reason we used them. It’ll be interesting. BUY MY BOOK!!! J
We had games Tuesday. My young’uns crushed everyone in their path. They won all 6 sets quite dominatingly and played pretty good overall. My Grays did that for their first game. They may as well have had nobody on that side of the court with how that game went. Their second game, I think they got a little over-confident because they dropped 2 sets that game for their first loss of the season. They have trouble adjusting to deep servers so let teams go on a run when a deep server steps up. We’ll be working on that A LOT at practice. It’s a drill I wanted to incorporate last week but enough players did not show up.
On Wednesday, my oldest played. I’m still on the fence about her new coach. She doesn’t seem to pay attention to the game at all. She starts with lineups that don’t make sense. The substitutions she makes make absolutely no sense based on what is happening on the court and where people are best suited to play. Her timeouts almost always come 3-5 points too late. I can’t figure out if I’m just that picky, if I’ve been coaching too long so it is hard to sit back and watch or if my complaints are legit, but I don’t like it!
And now, more practice today and a barbeque tomorrow afternoon. A good relaxing weekend (except for the fact my husband has to work this weekend!).
