The Torreys really just kind of blew everyone away this week. They didn’t play nearly as good as they’re capable of and they did let one of the teams lead for a little bit, but, they crushed it pretty good. They actually got down in a 6 point hole in one game and ended up winning by 4 still. I can’t complain about that when they get a positive ten point swing. They hung tough and finished it out.
My Grays learned that harder servers are their weakness. Our lineup didn’t work out to the other team’s strong servers unfortunately and that is how they dropped the two sets. We had a weaker back row player playing right where the serves were dropping. But, now we know what we need to work on. There’s nothing like a loss you can actually learn and grow from.
The Blancas, I don’t even know what to say. I’m doing my best to play spectator more than coach now. It hasn’t been easy. All those kids playing on that team that I’ve coached for multiple season, I feel like I’m there for each of them separately now. It’s a weird feeling.
It was a pretty good week overall. I know what I need to work on with my teams and I hope my older players’ new coach figures out what they need to work on. I wish she’d let me help out but I am not one to get in the way.
