Alright – now that summer is half over (and I need a little reassurance today) – it’s time to see what I’ve accomplished on my summer to do list so far…………..
10 Things To Do This Summer:
10 Things To Do This Summer:
- 1. Hike Colorado – only been on a couple since we’ve lived here, but it’s so beautiful that it’s really time to get out – 6 Miles with the kids at Mt. Falcon!
- 2. Tube the Arkansas River – another thing we have not taken advantage of since living in Colorado and it’s just too easy to keep making excuses! – Still on the schedule. Was supposed to happen last weekend but I was recovering from a cold and it was a high of 80. SUMMER’S NOT OVER!
- 3. Run a Half Marathon – it was supposed to be a yearly tradition for my husband and I but other things have always gotten in the way – June 20th – here we come! – June 20th it was and it was pretty successful for myself – first in my division and 3rd overall for females!
- 4. Do a Triathlon – I’ve been saying I want to do this for a couple of years – just not much time to train (I’m not the strongest swimmer!) – maybe I’ll get around to it this year… - ok – that’s not going to happen this year, putting it off one more. I took the kids to the pool and tried swimming a couple laps. I have a LONG way to go and have not been training in the pool. One day, I’ll be more comfortable in the pool to get enough training in to knock this thing out!
- 5. Hot Air-Ballooning – my husband gave me a gift certificate for our anniversary to go Hot Air Ballooning – I’ve begged him to do it for a while and the one time we almost did it – we went out to lunch and saw that there were, let’s say, some malfunctions, that day and he’s been scared to even think about it since then! – Done and done! It was gorgeous!
- 6. Go to a baseball game – another thing our business got in the way of last year but sitting out on a beautiful summer day at the ball park is so, just, nice. – a nice summer afternoon at the ballpark. We actually did get to one (and only one) and the girls still don’t like sitting still long enough!
- 7. Go to an outdoor concert – we used to do this on a regular basis but lately they’ve all been during the week or not a band we were too interested in seeing – I say we need to just do it this year even if the band is not someone super exciting! – we have not succeeded here yet either – there just haven’t been many decent ones on a day we had available. There is a free one with 80’s tribute bands at a park close to home that we may have to check out just to try and score well on my list here!!
- 8. Tour Denver by bike – my husband is not fond of biking but I think it would be so cool to ride around the city on a bike like a tourist – just rent one of the city bikes and cruise around town. – I had a chance to talk him into and I thought I was going to but then we decided to do something else so I didn’t bring it up so it has not been completed yet this summer and chances are getting slimmer and slimmer
- 9. Mountain Climbing – there are plenty of mountains in Colorado – it’s time to take one down! – we climbed halfway up Pikes Peak and we are climbing Grays and Torreys Peak here in a couple of weeks – YES!!!
- 10. Go Fishing – I loved fishing as a kid but have not been in SOOOOOOOOOOOO long – I just want to find a nice place to sit and relax and throw a line in the water for a few hours. – I saw people fishing while on our staycation excursious. I was jealous. I want to go fishing.
Well, there we go. I started saying summer was half over and it looks like I’ve accomplished half my list. I will admit, there is no way one of them is getting done at this point. Even only the half way point, I do not have time to train for a triathlon in two months. I’m just not a strong enough swimmer to jump in like that. It’ll stay on the list for next year. Hopefully I’ll get to working on my swimming strength.
