Long Weeks –
I have missed being able to talk about daily events and whatever comes to mind for a little over a week now. Life gets crazy sometimes and last week was one of the craziest weeks in a LONG time.
Sunday, which was also supposed to be Father’s Day, my husband had to leave for the field.
Monday – all the division managers from across the country were coming in for meetings which also meant the owners were going to be in. Monday – Wednesday they were all here, all day, every one of those days. The owner, who had all her managers read the book “Leaders Eat Last” would have someone go pick up lunch for everyone, get her food and then walk around the office with her plate full of food and say “Oh, lunch is here if you want some”. I couldn’t get over that. One day she even went to someone’s office and told him that he should come join them for lunch in the conference room. She continued to say that she had already eaten. It was completely beyond me. I won’t get into more details. It was a long few days at work there.
Monday night, I cooked and cooked and cooked. I wasn’t going to be home enough to cook for the rest of the week so I got home and cooked all night long.
Tuesday night was a normal volleyball night. Get home about 3:30, out the door again by 4:10. Games ended around 9:00. But, I had an obnoxious parent that night. A parent from the other team complained to their coach who complained to the ref who talked to me which meant I had to talk to the parents from my team. It was not fun. I did not like it one little bit.
Then at the end of the 2nd game (that incident happened in the 1st game), my parents come to talk to me because the parent that complained to them apparently was talking ‘at them’ the whole rest of the game. So, I had to stay even longer to be able to talk to the league director about issues. He was not happy. The other parent had already talked to him as well. Not a fun way to end a long day.
Back up at 5:00 on Wednesday morning after not even getting home until about 10:00. Then, more volleyball that night. Home around 3:30, out the door by 4:10. I only had 3 games that night, though so that was a little easier. But, my youngest teams tournament was the first game and then my older girls had their last games of the season. Left the gym about 9:00.
Thursday 5:00 came quick again. Work all day, volleyball all night. More tournament games. Semi-finals and finals for young kids, quarter-finals for middle kids and round 1 and quarter-finals for oldest kids.
And then Friday came and only one more team had to play because nobody else made it to Friday. Up to two early games Friday.
Then it was supposed to be a relatively relaxing weekend. We were going to take a nice hike up at Mt. Falcon and just enjoy the day, as a family with nothing to worry about. We slept in, left about noon, had a nice picnic lunch up there. By the time we got back to the car, we had walked about six miles. My plan for the evening was just all hanging out watching movies and relaxing at home because we hadn’t been home much. But, our neighbors wanted to get together for game night. We ended up being home for about an hour before we went over there and then stayed out too late.
Sunday morning, I was feeling the effects of the night before and wanted just another relaxing day, but alas, we had volleyball and tickets to Wicked for the evening. We didn’t have to leave until 1:30 that afternoon, but I just wanted to sleep! Then back in the gym from 2:00-5:00, got to run home for about 20 minutes to change and head out to the Theater. We got home at about 11:30 and then Monday morning it was time to go back to work.
And, now we are fighting with painters who were supposed to start painting our house on Monday and as of now, they have not yet started. It’s been a long week. I’m hoping to get back on track now, though.
