7/30/1965 - Lyndon B. Johnson signs Medicare into law. It started as medical insurance for Americans over 65. By 1972, it was extended to people with certain disabilities and people with kidney disease. Medicaid was also signed into law on this day in 1965, offering health coverage to low-income people.
7/30/2003 – The last classic VW Beetle rolls of the line. The Beetle was redesigned in 1998 and since this day, they have not manufactured another of the original designs.
